Things Thought About

Growing up we happened upon pearls of wisdom from older more experienced people. Whether listened to and remembered really depended on our state of mind at the time. Lets face it, kids are not always paying attention to what is said, so much as whom and how it is said, and then only if it seems interesting at the time.

It is a certainty that we overlooked the best that life had to offer, as we scurried along. Perhaps this is a tired cliché from another old man. Older people often said things like: “Its no fun being old.” Or “Pay attention kid, this is what you have to look forward too.” And, “My body feels old but I still feel like I’m eighteen in my mind.”

Because of our youth, understanding was fleeting at best and rarely grasped. Its unfortunate that many of the expressions we may have had shared with us, seemed more rueful than happy or joyful. That is a most unfortunate recollection.

Perhaps like childhood, when we were busy making our imaginary place in the world, our adulthood is spent busily earning a living. And we miss the “real” purpose behind life in our rush to get to a mythical somewhere else.  Is it not a sad thing to discover that maybe it was the memories that were important.

What If

What if...

the rain Gently fell everyday?

the sun could only warm us to 72?

greed & hate suddenly disappeared?

everyone asked what if we all loved each other and shared our bounty?

Christ came knocking at the door for a meal or some cash?

we all agreed that there is only one god and everyone is choosen?

all the weapons (including privately owned) vanished?

we didn't have too ask what if?

How is this for a word...
"RE..CLUES..IVE" yes, reclusive? It is sounds like a very satisfying afternoon or weekend.  No phones, faxes, tv's, or radios.  Only the whispering of trees and the singing of birds with the wind gently conducting.

Its easy to be unappreciative or thoughtless. Its almost an inborne trait for the species survival.  The circuit it seems, has shorted. We grow learning to be competetive, pushsy as needed, even ruthless.

With GOD we trust on our money and avarice in our hearts we bow before the false god of wealth and power so we too can tell our like minded friends and neighbors how well we have done as we are leaving the church, our time for this week put in, an hour of prayer, a verbose sermon on sin and a short lived dose of guilt.

Hearts without the desire to gather treasures on earth are unfortunately rare and also unfortunately a threat to those whom cannot buy, intimidate or impress this type of person.

This world can be funny.  If you really overtly Love God, you become accused of being a Christ imitator or a zelot of dangerous proportions.  Whatever you are labled you become ex-clu-ed and are not easily welcomed anywhere.

It's a familiar story and has been passed down for at least two millenia and as we bypeds are famous for being slow at change the sad story will continue long after everyone alive on earth today has gone.

I don't go to chuch!  In part because it is uninspiring and because I like to be able to speak in silence to the Lord.

I'm a freak but.... you know.

Been Stopped Too Long

Anyone who lives in a town with at least 2 stop lights may get this. I believe the individual responsible for stop light timing is called a traffic engineer (I am guessing).

The job description might go something like this: Individual responsible for adjusting traffic signals in such away as to expedite street traffic in a safe and timely manner.

The point. My town and one or two others I have been through haven’t a glue about timely traffic flow and a 2 - 5 minute wait is not unusual. What is so disconcerting is there may or may not be any traffic.

I had been under the impression that the traffic lights had built-in sensors to adjust to traffic flow accordingly. I obviously have been misinformed.

Sitting at a traffic light at 11:00 p.m. for several eternities is rather foolish, wasteful (gas), environmentally harmful and just plane dumb. I applaud those Engineers whom have the foresight to have programmed their systems to flashing red or yellow lights at times when traffic is not an issue.

It should be a standard policy everywhere possible. At those places where long waits must take place, perhaps a sign estimating the amount of time over 1 minute you will have to wait; at least you‘ll have the option of turning off the engine of your vehicle to be carbon smart.

After 45 years plus of driving, I would be interested in knowing how much of my life has been spent waiting for the green. If any of you can do the math, please drop me a line.

What's a minute? To me it's that the waiting is the waste as mentioned earlier.  How many accidents have occured because someone, (and there always seems to be) is in a hurry? No its about safety in an era when everything has to done yesterday, and the planet needs to find smaller carbon prints.

Well, that’s it for this pet peeve. May the gods of traffic be with you. Long live the LCDs‘.

Unobstructed View

I was having a lovely quiet cup of coffee with Margo over by the Pond near her work.  A small breeze was blowing and all the various trees were dancing and singing with it....  What struck me was how all the dances and voices were in harmony.

Doesn't seem like much, but suddenly, I unterstood. We are similar to those trees. The breeze of our daily lives blow gently. The song and dance we choose determines wheather our participation be harmonious, or not.

Admittedly I have seen myself disharmonized during some critical moments and have completely given myself, to the scores small nuiances at others.

The play became beautiful.

The further seeing is so simple and it is we, Homosapiens, that have created the difficulties.  Nature is in harmony with nature.  To say that our spiecies is not of nature is the greatest illusion since the eating of the apple.

Much could be said here but this seems like a good time to stop the music of the spheres.

Phenomena

A friend sent me a video from Youtube about a strange sign in the sky. It’s call the Jesus Apparition. Well at first it appeared to me as a cross on a hill but on closer look it was the rendering of the cross most are familiar with, the INRE just above Christ’s head.

Is this a sign of an impending apocalypse? As the earth is rebelling from mans’ indifference towards it and with the so called impending 2012 prediction, one might want to jump to conclusions.

I prefer to think of the Crucifix as an affirmation that we are under the Lords protection. That is one persons opinion anyway.

That said I’ll save my next comment for a different post.

Frustration

I thought that the body could be resonably controlled with discipline, exercise (I rarley do, except for walking), and meditation (which is something I am getting back to).

However the ads for diet, excercise and those whom are advisors; neglect to mention that certain types of heredity prevent good health at some point.  Yes it is possible to overcome the deficit but odds can be stacked against you.  Don't give up.  Steven Hawkings is still going strong dispite his complete paralysis and slow communications. His daily frustration level must be quite high but he sticks with it.

I began this, to talk about my own frustration with Type II Diabetes, but now I see I am very lucky and will stop while I can recogonize that fact.

Maybe looking around outside this small dwelling called body, we can really get a better overall picture of this small corner of the universe.

Tuesday

It startd to rain very early this morning, maybe 2 or 3 a.m.  I knew it was going to for two reasons: 1) the weather report said there would be a chance of thunderstorms late in the day, (tuesday) and 2) I washed my truck.  Its a kind of insurance policy against the heat of early spring.

I took my sweetie (Margo) to breakfast at about 1:30p.m., and we had a nice chicken salad.  It was a nice change from eggs and pancakes.  Our time together is important to both of us.

It occured to me that blogging should be used as a place to kick around ideas and opinions. I also realized that it's not something that can be done everyday unless one is committed to a particular path or project.

This said, I will blog as concerns for earth, government, science or religion spark a comment.

That could be often or more likely ocassionaly.

A note of interest

I was listenting to the radio, as I do when I take Margo to work.  The DJ was sharing a poll she had found about how the american people feel about the government.  The interesting part was that a full 80% of those polled do not trust the government.

It would be interesting to see how that number would be reflected over the past 6 decades.  I'd be willing to bet that it was at least that high after Viet Nam and Watergate.

Of those whom distrust the government it would also be interesting to discover how many feel they have been betrayed either by the government or those elected to office.

Personally I trust the government to do either the opposite of the peoples wishes or if complying to the wishes, messing it up so it can be said they had warned us.

At this point the government seems to be at odds with itself.  It seems even worse than the Macarthy debacle.

As I nearly lost this post, I shall close until...

My First Time

Howdy, I need large type so I can see what I am saying.  I hope this new form of expression (for me) will get easier to use.  I really haven't anything to comment on, at this time, however I do have a question.

Has there been a lot of earth activity i.e. quakes, volcanes etc. or is it just that they're more often being reported?

Well lets see where this advenure will lead us.  After all its about the journey.

Talk again very soon I'm sure.
